Multiple Truths

As I sit and mourn the falling blossoms of the cherry tree in the back yard, I am reminded that spring, with all its beauty and blooming is also a place that holds grief. Especially here in the PNW, bright sunny days are scattered in between the rain and grey. Nature does not deny the duality and multiplicity of itself and neither should we.

Lately I’ve been sitting with the idea of holding multiple truths and how it creates wholeness.

It can be so tempting to cling to the safety of one truth, one thing, of black and white thinking. I notice when I insist on one truth, it denies the integration of other things needing to be processed.

I bypass anger when I cling to compassion. I leave no room for gratitude when I am submerged in life’s challenges. When I only want sunshine and good feels, I dismiss the richness of rain and the myriad of emotions life has to offer.

The toxic positivity of “good vibes only” is not sustainable. We are meant to experience and move emotion through. When our truths are suppressed, it can manifest as irritation, anxiety, stress and in extreme cases, physical illness.

There is room for it all. All parts of our emotional selves. All the roles we have taken on. All the seasons, shifts and truths we hold. When we integrate all parts of self, we welcome wholeness.

When we are fully integrated, we are fortified and able to radiate outward. No longer seeking from others or overextending, this balancing fosters healthy boundaries. No walls or shields needed!

Being in balance does not mean perfect percentiles of this or that. It is an ebb and flow of many things intermingled. The messy parts, the sorrow, the righteous rage, the anxious. The pleasure, the silliness, the excitement, the joy. Let it move through. Allow the being-ness of this crazy human journey.

May you feel and know, you are always whole.
